The best restaurant I’ve eaten at in San Francisco. Sure, it’s on the pricier side, but it’s a top-notch restaurant where you’ll get more than your money’s worth. Compared to typical prices at American dinner restaurants, it’s about average. Even so, it offers the best value for money—it’s on par with Michelin-starred restaurants. It actually makes you wonder why this place hasn’t received a Michelin star. The owner is truly passionate about the ingredients. And all the staff are friendly. Be sure to let Kate guide you through your meal with her detailed explanations of the dishes. It’ll leave you with wonderful memories of San Francisco. If you’ve come to San Francisco and haven’t experienced this restaurant, you haven’t truly enjoyed the city. If you’re looking for special memories of San Francisco and an authentic Japanese restaurant, I highly recommend visiting this place. Reservations are required.

The fish was incredibly fresh, and every dish felt thoughtfully crafted. I loved the Japanese-French fusion. it was creative without losing the essence of Japanese cuisine. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something a little different!

I visited this location with my friend after a local’s recommendation to try this restaurant had a Japanese owner. We decided to do the 8 course omakase since we wanted to try their seasonal dishes. The sashimi and nigiri were very fresh and paired nicely with the garnish. Every dish was very good. The service was very welcoming and accommodated us very well. Only note was that the sake we chose was a good palate cleanser for each dish but did not pair well with the food. It might had been better if we chose a different one. I will definitely come back to this location.

My girlfriend and I recently had dinner at Kabuto on Geary Street, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we've had in the city. We opted for the omakase, and the entire progression of the meal was absolutely amazing. A huge shoutout to our main chef, Eric, who made the night incredibly special. His attention to detail, pacing, and passion for the craft really shone through in every bite. We were completely blown away by the creative flavor profiles and quality of the fish. A few absolute standouts: the Hamachi pear was brilliantly refreshing, the Escolar chip provided the perfect textural crunch, and the Wagyu gyoza was incredibly rich, buttery, and melted right in our mouths. If you are looking for an intimate, top-tier sushi experience with a welcoming and personal touch, you have to visit Kabuto. Sit at the counter, say hi to Chef Eric, and his amazing wife and hostess, Sun and let them take care of you!

I’ve lived in SF for 10+ years and this was the best meal I’ve ever had. Eric and his team outdid themselves. The hospitality was 11/10. The creativity and thoughtfulness added to each dish made all the difference and puts them in a new category for Japanese cuisine. Kabuto is the definition of a magical hole in the wall experience. Nestled in the heart of the Inner Richmond right on Geary, it already embodies everything a local is. If you’re a foodie this should be top on your list of must visit SF.
